Julie Perrin brings twenty years experience as a storyteller and arts educator, she now directs Tellingwords.

Her professional background includes performance, teaching and creative writing. Julie collaborates with musicians to perform at festivals and conferences and has completed artist-in-residencies in Victorian primary schools as well as overseas. Julie is the 2011 winner of the Pat Glover Memorial Storytelling Award at the Port Fairy Folk Festival.

Julie’s credentials include a Graduate Diploma Drama in Education and Master of Education. Her M.Ed thesis ‘The tale of one teller’ was runner up for the Freda Cohen prize at the University of Melbourne. Julie has full registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching. She is completing RMIT’s Diploma in Professional Writing and Editing and her short stories have been published in Melbourne newspapers as well as national magazines and short story collections.

Julie has delivered projects funded by the Australia Council and Communities for Children. She was lead storyteller in a project piloted by School Focused Youth Service and documented in a DVD ’Before there were books there were stories’. Julie has had numerous commissions from educational and community organizations and from philanthropic sources such as the CASS Foundation.
